- Agriculture Development Strategy of Uzbekistan for 2020-2030 is a nationwide sectoral policy document. It has as its scope sustainable development of agri-food sector of the national economy. The goal of the Strategy shall be implementation of the policy aimed at deepening ongoing reforms in agricultural sector with a view of improving competitiveness of agri-food sector.
- The Strategy shall cover the following strategic priorities: (a) ensuring food security of the population; (b) creating favorable agribusiness climate; (c) reducing the role of the state and increasing investment attractiveness; (d) ensuring the rational use of natural resources and protection the environment; and (e) development of extension services.
- The project is currently active and progressing toward its objectives, with a focus on sustained progress and adaptive implementation. The primary role of CPRO is to support research and capacity development and advise the government; this, in turn, will increase farm income, create new jobs, enhance food security, and ensure the sustainable use of natural resources. The project will accompany the Government of Uzbekistan in implementing the sector reform, to which the EU is providing an additional €33 million through its Budget Support modality.
